A literary classic on a grand stage reviving the era of extravagance

This is a story about New York’s upper class, wealth, indulgence and obsession during the “Roaring Twenties”.  Adapted from the “Great American Novel” by F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby is filled with captivating dance, rave parties and sensual jazz music, as the work captures the clashes between the old and the new economies and the social atmosphere of decadence.  Billy Novick’s Blue Syncopators rock the stage with live accompaniment, along with stunning performance by award-winning blues singer E. Faye Butler, renowned Guest Principal Dancer Matthew Golding and Chinese tap dancer Jiang Shaofeng, lighting up the 40th anniversary of Hong Kong Ballet.  The thrilling production also features sets and costumes designed by Tim Yip, winner of Academy Award for Best Art Direction for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.  The Great Gatsby was premiered in Hong Kong early this year and garnered extensive acclaims for its five sold-out shows.
